Views from the Match Thread ahead of kick-off:

berksimps: “Not looking forward to this at all, yet six weeks ago it was a fantastic prospect.

Guess we may have to treat it like a cup game that we are not expected to win and divide it into 15 minute sections. Concentrate hard, get through each section without conceding and hit them on the break, preferably as late as possible.

Dreading us conceding early and imploding. But it’s a funny old game… UTI.”

Red Wimp: “This is one of those games where if roles were reversed you could guarantee an upset against Lincoln, so on that basis, I’m banking on Sunderland thinking they’ve won the game before it starts.”

Brendan Bradley: “Sunderland cross the ball a lot and now they’ve got a telegraph pole up front as well to complement their already 20+ striker who’s fantastic in the air. And in the last few weeks, we can’t defend crosses.

That’s a potential recipe for disaster, but we have other qualities. Ipswich have good players too but didn’t create a single chance from open play. That game was only 11 days ago, though it seems like weeks (we did concede from a poorly defended cross admittedly)

Bad runs and good runs come and go. Sure, we have key injuries but sometimes things fall into place when you have no other alternatives.

Today might be one of those days. Two months ago we wouldn’t be approaching the game like this, and we did draw up there a month ago.”
