So, who were our star performers in the first month after the transfer window closed? How did our new signings perform in what is a notoriously difficult transfer window to settle? Is the team – and the squad – in a better place after the window closed than before it opened? Do I ask too many rhetorical questions? Time to find out.

Top of the pile is CARL RUSHWORTH who seems to be marching inexorably towards the Player of the Season trophy. Many fans believe he is the best Imps’ goalkeeper in living memory, and certainly the best of our recent loanee keepers; the latter is indisputable, the former open to a lot of debate.

PAUDIE O’CONNOR continues to grow into League One with every game and takes second place this month. The relentless consistency of his performances as the rock at the heart of defence may even carry him into contention for that Player of the Season award and ultimately attract suitors from elsewhere. Who would have believed that after a challenging opening day against Exeter?

In third place, we have LEWIS MONTSMA, part-time model and defender/midfielder/striker extraordinaire. It was Montsma whose shot led to the goal at Derby and whose careless elbow against Whining Wee Joey’s Bristol Rovers led to an FA charge and a three-match ban. Significantly, City took seven points from the three games he played, and only three from the three he missed. A strange month, but his return to fitness after thirteen months out has been greeted with ecstasy by anyone wearing red and white. In Lincoln, anyway.

An honourable mention this month must go to Ethan Erhahon, who has settled into both life at Lincoln City and life in Lincoln with a smile on his face. As far as that difficult transfer window goes, Lincoln’s (alleged) record signing has apparently been here for years. The missing link in midfield? It looks highly possible.
