Views Before The Game On Our Match Thread

Imprest 1: “Looking forward to this one, it’s so tight in the top half only 2 points between 6th and 13th place. Would be nice to get all 3 points to say the least!”

evenstephen: “Coventry are no Crewe but they have failed to score in 5 out of their last 6 league games. They have only conceded 3 goals during that time too. We can’t afford to concede any sloppy goals but there is a chance we could sneak one, I would be delighted with a 1-0 home win.”

Skip155: “Danny said yesterday the target set was 8 points from Crewe, Coventry, Colchester and Port Vale.

A draw keeps us on track but obviously hoping for more and in any event the mantra is win at home draw away.”

Views After The Game On Our Match Thread

JT_LCFC: “It was a game of two halves we were better first then were better in the second. There a decent side and pace in good areas.

Said it all along we aren’t far away from being a very good side 2/3 additions in January we can still be playoff material.

Having said that you could see what it meant to Coventry in the end, and it was supposed to be our cup final.”

berksimps: “Comprehensively beaten by the better side second half. They had more pace and belief across the whole midfield and attacking third, their No 11 was exceptional.

All season we have been reluctant to shoot. Their policy of shoot on sight put us under pressure and forced Vickers to make some decent saves. A game to learn from.

Great to see a busy fanzone, the ground almost full, and to have a decent away following in the Stacey West.”

Luke Imp: “A game of two halves, really, and I’d agree with Cowley when I say the best team won in the end.

First half we were quite comfortable bar a couple of breaks. We managed to pin Coventry in for long periods, largely due to them being negative and defending very deep, which played into our hands. I think we may have had a couple off the line and Rhead volleyed in at the back post.

I thought we were 5 minutes away from getting through the Coventry storm in the second half. They played at a higher tempo but were starting to drop off a little bit. Second goal was disappointing because the ball looked to have gone out from our cross, which everyone stopped for and were jogging back thinking it was a GK. One of those that the linesman gives even though he’s on the other side of the pitch.

First half, you could easily see why Coventry were such low scorers. Negative, 11 men behind the ball at times, slow in possession, ponderous and taking ridiculous shots on from 25-35 yards and were so, so impatient. Over the 90 minutes, I’ve never seen a side take more stupid shots. Anywhere and everywhere. If they weren’t flying over the bar, they were rolling into Vickers hands – little in between.

Second half you wonder why they don’t score more goals. Much more forward passing, a tweak in formation and their striker came on and changed the game because he was a threat in behind. McNulty and the other guy were very poor and offered little.

And how that game ended up with 6 bookings I have no idea. It was a good, solid, honest game without a bad tackle in it.”
