Impalex: “I am looking forward to an exciting, preferably one-sided game where we take all three points comfortably. I fear the worst, mind.”

Stevie_imp: “Danny said as much in his interview. Few games are easy even against clubs that are struggling. Let’s just get 3 points.”

Views After The Game On Our Match Thread

Luke Imp: “So, so comfortable. One of those games where you’re in control that much without really putting a shift in that you become slightly complacent. Chesterfield had the mini or all mini spells at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second but we saw that through with ease.

First goal was a shot from the edge of the box, which took a deflection and wrong footed Anyon. Second was an own goal after good work from Anderson down the left. It was either going to be an OG to a JMD tap-in, so the defender had to do something. Also hit the bar and two cleared off the line.

Penalty was a clear one, but came from us being caught in a two on one, which hadn’t happened up to that point.

I was expecting them to have a bit of a go at us after the penalty but despite giving them the ball back every time we won it back, it didn’t happen. They just continued to play pretty, short and sideways.

Chesterfield were very pretty, but very ineffective. Passed the ball quite well albeit not with any real urgency, had no final ball and didn’t create anything either. They had a good free-kick at the end of the first half, but that was it. Their game was summed up by O’Grady having a shot from the centre of the goal from 20 yards and was about 20cm away from being our throw-in.

Cowley thought the ref had a good game, but bloody hell he was whistle happy. No clangers, but he seemed to forget the game is a contact sport.

As for us, still alarmingly clear we need another forward option. We can’t wait until January to sort that out. We need another body on a short term deal for two or three months.

Also need to stop letting teams back in it. We could cruise at the times in the NL, but not up here.”

Jaggy Imp: “Three points is all that counts but have to disagree with other folks – that was anything but comfortable, especially in the second half. We put in what I thought was a fairly workmanlike performance before becoming engulfed, again, by the fear towards the end. If they’d had better quality up front, we could easily have been punished. I need to see the penalty again. My first instinct was that it was a dive – and it was the same player who conned a foul from Anderson earlier in the game. No-one anywhere near ‘stand out’ today for me. Don’t know if anyone else has spotted this, but we need a striker who can put the ball in the back of the net…”

JT_LCFC: “I think you have to remember where we have come from and the improved standard. I feel that as we are also the best supported in the league that we are suddenly bigger and better than the rest when realistically probably have a mid-table budget.

In regards to the game I agree after 60 minutes we should of been in cruise control. Chesterfield were garbage and we couldn’t quite put them to the swords. Let’s be honest though we were hardly hanging on were we? It’s a sign of Cowleys sides that just don’t capitulate and they instil a confidence to grind out narrow wins.

Let’s hang in there until January and I feel with a couple of additions we could well be in amongst the shake-up. But it has been a very solid start and a win next week we could enter the top ten.

As for Chesterfield fair play to the 1000 or so that travelled but they are in desperate trouble. O’Grady on 2k a week? He look like he was stealing a living.”
