Alex Woodyard is set to make his 100th appearance for The Imps today at Chesterfield.

Woodyard missed 4 games last season due to being deliberately rested (the FA Trophy games at Welling, Boreham Wood and York plus the league game at Maidstone). That means he played in 57 of our 61 games, and picked up just 5 yellow cards. He has collected 5 more yellows this season (2 of which in the Checkatrade), meaning he gets booked once every ten games or so. Great record.

PerthImp: “Incredible – that’s in less than two seasons. Shows just how many games he’s played in such a short time, and how fit he is to be ale to play that many. Approaching legend status.”

79imp: “Thought he was back to his usual outstanding best last night after his first slightly rocky period at the club. And to clarify, ‘rocky’ for Woodyard is a 6 or 7 out of 10, rather than the usual 8 or 9/10 we’ve had out of him since he joined!

To reach 100 games in less than 2 seasons is a magnificent achievement, and shows another somewhat underrated side to his game – he’s never injured and almost always gets through a fully-charged 90 minutes as well.

Without question the best midfielder I’ve seen in the red & white in my 25+ years, although Peter Gain would run him fairly close (and I still have a soft spot for Udo Onwere as well!).”

Luke Imp: “Can only echo what others have said.

The consistency of his high performance levels as well as the amount of games he plays and such few yellow cards he’s picked up despite his style of play is fantastic.

Can’t believe he’s at 100 appearance already!”
