Ahead of Saturday’s match at home against Forest Green Rovers in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to go through to the Second Round of The FA Cup.

You can discuss what has been said in this article HERE, as well as many other topics on our 100% Imps forum! We have also published a Lincoln City v Forest Green Rovers Quiz, which can be found below the first three things. Every page view helps raise money for Lincoln City Football Club!

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Freshen it up a bit. Some players are now understandably looking a little jaded after our great, but intensive start to the season. We have some decent players who have been on the bench for the majority of the season who will want to impress and this is the game to give them that starting opportunity. Freshen it up with the likes of Archibald, Elbouzedi and Howarth and FGR will have something different to consider which they might not have had the chance to scout properly.

2. Don’t sway from the plan. We have played against two very good well-organised teams in the last two games. They knew how to counter our play and block our what has worked for us so far this season. In such circumstances, it can often be easy to stop doing the good things. I am very confident that FGR will not to at the standard of our last two opponents. Keep the faith with the style and they will struggle to keep up with it.

3. Corners. They need a huge improvement. The last few games the delivery from dead balls has been quite disappointing. These were potent weapons in the early games and that needs to be returned to.

What was notable about the two National League games between Lincoln and Forest Green in the 2016-17 season?

And here’s what Chesterimp said:

1. The ‘no difference/great difference’ debate about L1 and L2 has been proven by league experience and this season’s cup games to be inclined to the latter. If FGR are up for this it will be a battle, but the quality of the opposition will be less than the last 2 games.

2. Thinking this will be easy and being complacent might however cost us the match.

3. Tiredness against intense, high pressing sides was evident tonight and last Saturday. Squad rotation will now be essential but the starting IX will need to be prepped for a Cooperman high press in case he’s done his homework. If it’s his usual going nowhere passing game, we’ve seen it already this season from better teams. Either way, use speed and width and we’ll be on the draw for the 2nd round.
