Following last night’s 1-0 win away at Huddersfield Town in the First Round of the Carabao Cup, we asked our members what three things they learned from the match.
Here’s what NottyImp said:
1. Our second-string isn’t really a second-string at all. We have a small squad, but absolutely no make-weights. Everyone is essentially capable of playing their part in a first-team fixture. We really have gone for quality over quantity. That’s a gamble, but if it pays off with cup-runs, we can strengthen in January.
2. A note to opposition managers: don’t turn up with your reserves. We will beat you, just as we did in the Conference season. Our players eat bit-part players for breakfast and spit out the bones.
3. There will never be a better time to be an Imp in my lifetime. Just an astonishing, delightful journey we’re on and there’s no doubt we have Clive and the Cowleys to thank for that – and the players, of course! It’s just a big load of fun at the moment and I never thought I’d be able to say that about supporting LCFC.
And here’s what The Imposter said:
1. Smith is a fine back-up keeper to Vickers and there is no need of talk of any other keeper now.
2. Young Lewis is a cracking find and is more than an able deputy for Eardley at right-back.
3. Anderson, and not Andrade, is going to be our first million-pound transfer the way things are going. He has started the season on fire.
Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
