“Paul Lambert has done a great job off the pitch.”

And now for the answers provided by Jamie:

How long have you supported Ipswich Town?

All my life, of course!

Where did you finish last season?

Bottom of the Championship, ending a 17-year spell there.

What do you think of your Manager?

A real mixed bag. Did well last year to lift the mood around the club, as we were never going to realistically stay up after Paul Hurst destroyed the capability and morale of the playing staff in 3 months. He also made some good signings that made sense this summer. However, the constant changing of lineups/formations linked to some bizarre comments and a general lack of spark have soured things a bit. Unlike some of our fanbase, however, I still think PL is the man to take us up.

Who Are The League One Managers? No.12: Paul Lambert (Ipswich Town)

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2019/20 season?

Promotion, whilst playing some of a talented crop of academy players. Our fruitful youth setup was too often overlooked by our managers over the last decade, something Lambert has addressed…

One(s) to watch?

With Kane Vincent-Young injured, Flynn Downes is 100% our best player currently, a real box-to-box player who has a combative playing style but who is also growing in maturity. Luke Woolfenden is another quality young player at CB, whilst Kayden Jackson and James Norwood can score goals and cause problems at League One level when getting effective service.

Which teams you think will finish in the top six?

ITFC, Pompey, Wycombe, Oxford, Peterborough, Rotherham.

Which teams do you think will finish in the bottom three?

Bolton and Southend are likely gone, and I would love franchise MK to go with them.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

I went to Uni at Lincoln so know the club fairly well and used to go to the odd game (although this was when you were mid-table in the Conference) Obviously losing your manager has had an impact but your squad has enough experience to comfortably finish mid-table. I guess that would be deemed a success?

What do you think the score will be?

Low-scoring. I’ll say 1-0 Town.

Will The Imps win, lose or draw against Ipswich Town?

Win

Lose

Draw

Random fact about your Club?

We have an unbeaten home record in European competition, beating the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Lazio, and AZ Alkmaar (en route to the 1981 UEFA Cup) amongst others. Despite our yellow-clad neighbours trying to point out how long ago this was, I watched us beat Inter myself (I’m 25).

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

Bruno Andrade. Quality winger, exotic, pacy and takes players on. Seems to score and assist more consistently than most wingers at this level, who often blow hot and cold.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as an Ipswich Town Supporter?

Proudest was watching us finish 5th as a newly-promoted team in the Premiership in 2001, or beating Arsenal in the first leg of the Carling Cup Semi-Final. Worst was losing 5-1 at home to Norwich or Brentford away in 2018 when some day-tripper fans hurled completely unnecessary abuse at departing manager Mick McCarthy.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

The aforementioned Downes, whilst I’m a fan of giant GK Tomas Holy, who has been randomly benched as a result of our rotation policy.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

We do, they do lots of great stuff, however, there is a feeling from some fans they have been too cosy with the club at times.

Which was your favourite match involving Ipswich Town?

Either one of the Arsenal games, or watching us beat West Ham 5-1 in 2012.

Which was your least favourite match involving Ipswich Town?

Letting in a 95th-minute equaliser at Carrot Road 2 seasons back…

Do you have a Former Players Association at Ipswich Town?

I believe so, we certainly have the history for it, unlike Naaarwich.

What’s the best thing about Ipswich?

It’s cheap and the waterfront area is very nice, aside from that not much at all unless you like dating Single Moms. (If it isn’t obvious, I’m not from the town itself) To be honest you could describe Lincoln in the same way…
