“We have just played two of the division’s top sides away from home and proved we can compete.”

|

Ahead of today’s match against Ipswich Town in League One, we asked our members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what Chimpimp said (with a small dose of sarcasm):

1. Football is a mad game. Logic and reason go out the window.

Ipswich sit in an automatic promotion place and yet manager Paul Lambert is making statements questioning whether he will be in his job much longer following a short run of moderate results. All is not quite right in the Ipswich camp.

Can we take advantage? We have just played two of the division’s top sides away from home and proved we can compete at that level and lost by small margins.

We now have another top team to face at Sincil Bank aka LNER Stadium.

In terms of approach and attitude, same again. Make it really difficult for Ipswich, keep compact, defend resolutely and see if Ipswich can cope with this self-imposed mini-crisis.

Will The Imps win, lose or draw against Ipswich Town?

Win

Lose

Draw

2. Stay patient and realistic. We know we have limitations but we also know the difference between a win and a loss can be, a referee showing a second yellow for a minor infringement, a handball on the line being seen or not, a shot hitting the underside of the bar and going in or a header coming back off the post.

Make the game as attritional as we can and looked forward to being able to find a way to collect the points.

3. If we can also get Rheady back, play two strikers, shoot on sight, stop passing to each other in our own half, play our second-best right back, go long ball and get the manager to jump up and down more in the technical area, I am assured this will ensure victory.
