Newcastle United U21s (h): Three Things The Imps Need To Do To Win

Ahead of tomorrow night’s match at home against Newcastle United U21s in the EFL Trophy, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points and make it through to the next stage.

Here’s what Chimpimp said:

1. Play with a bit more drive than we did against Doncaster. We were obviously the better side against Doncaster but just expected the result to take care of itself….and it didn’t. Last time we played like it was a friendly, this time it will be a knock-out match we need to win.

2. It will be interesting to see the make-up of the side which takes the field on Tuesday. All the back 5 deserve a rest but only Robson of our remaining defenders is likely to be fit to come in. So a back four and perhaps a surprise attacking right-back might be the order of the day.

3. There are more options going forward but again House needs wrapping up in cotton wool, so a sight of Freddie Draper and a chance for Mandriou to get on the ball and show what he can do, might be the way a go. As long as we approach it right and show the Newcastle players, the physicality needed to succeed in EFL1, it should be a good night.
