Views Before The Game On Our Match Thread

PerthImp: “Going by their results so far they don’t seem to have had a very impressive start considering the cash they’ve splashed. They’ve had a couple of good wins but only against the likes of the Cods and FGR, both of which they were probably expected to win. Hopefully we’ll be a different proposition, and it’s at the Bank so we should have a great atmosphere, plus we’ll have Green back. I’ll go 2 – 0 to the Imps – a clean sheet would be nice against them.”

HitherImp: “2-0 to The Mighty Imps, I suspect Danny will be determined that we’ll not concede an early goal this match! There are a lot of players getting very goal hungry now and some with a point to prove, hoping for another amazing afternoon at the Bank.”

Skip155: “My wife and all her family are from Mansfield so anything over than a victory is unacceptable today. Thank you.”

Views After The Game On Our Match Thread

Jaggy Imp: “Can’t believe some of the match comments here. We were desperately poor today – first and second half. Very few players got anything near pass marks for me. Our build up play was ponderous and simply gave Mansfield time to get everyone behind the ball. Bostwick did have a bit of possession but did little with it and his instinct always seems to be go backwards or sideways. He really needs to step it up. Woodyard was also poor today, but we need to talk about Paul. Farman clearly at fault for the goal, slow and poor in distribution again (even though he did go for a few through-outs today). I’d be tempted to see what Vickers has to offer.”

Luke Imp: “I thought that was an absolute dog **** of a game, perhaps due to defences being on top but performance wise, it was one of lower mid-table than anything remotely promotion material from either side. Mind you, one of those games that you love as the away side if you win 1-0.

0-0 looked to be written all over it after 30 minutes or so. There wasn’t really a clear cut chance in the game but I thought we were more of a threat in the first half, particularly in the final 15 minutes. Second half Mansfield were happy to sit back and hope for a mistake/bit of quality, which happened. Looked like Farman/Dickie/Raggett/whoever ran into each other from the cross. That said, Logan still had to make a save or two whereas Farman didn’t have to make a save all afternoon.

Bizarrely, there was a reluctance to cross or get at the full backs from us in the second half. We had enough pace but not the confidence to do so, which was unusual, although Mansfield’s wingers pretty much played as second full backs.

First home defeat in 364 days and the first time I’ve been overly disappointed with our performance for a long time so can’t be too downhearted. Still been a good week with 6 from 9.

It’s just not quite clicking in the final third. We’re trying to get Rhead and Knott in the side, but it’s ‘either or’ for me on those two.”

The Imposter: “Disappointed with the result, but it is only our second defeat of the season. A shame we didn’t get another striker in, though, as we are still lacking up top.”
