Lincoln City 3-1 Charlton Athletic: Post-Match Views & Stats

|

Views from PerthImp following the 3-1 win at home versus Charlton Athletic in League One: “What an incredible performance. So much fight and determination and not a little skill. Lasse Sorensen was unbelievable and could quite easily have had one or two goals. The defence was absolutely resolute and solid. The two Ethans were incredible but it was actually the fringe players (no disrespect intended) that brought that performance and result. They did their bit in backing up the ‘stars’ by making sure Charlton never got a sniff. Adelukan has at last shown why the Imps bought him – where does he go from here? I do feel sorry for Michael Appleton (maybe not). Jack Vale is a cross between Tom Hopper and Ben House – let’s hope he can score as well. Looks good on the first outing. The final accolade has to go to Tom Shaw who has shown real coaching ability and is getting the best out of the players, but more than that his flexibility and willingness to try something different is brilliant.”

sedgleyimp: “I was never in the Kennedy out group, but that performance tonight shows what this team is capable of and almost certainly cements that the board made a bold but correct decision.

Let’s hope they get the next big decision spot on as well.”

Gaz_Imp: “Wow! What a brilliant night. Such contrasting emotions to Burton game.

Let’s face it, when we went 1 down I think a lot of people would have thought game over, I did. Under Kennedy I think it would have been.

But the team absolutely stuck together and effort was unreal.

The second goal – how many passes was it? Honestly think must have been about 30?

Lasse Sorenson – insane. How do I put a freedom of information request into the club!? Would love to know how many yards he covered tonight! Unbelievable running, and at pace.

Adelekun – also insane. Guy has to be given so much credit given circumstances. I thought the redemption of Lasse was something, but Adelekun could be on cusp on turning it round more than any player we’ve ever had. First goal he did superbly.

Liked look of Vale, looked a ratty type forward that is horrible play against.

But every player deserves credit – put an amazing shift in.

Few noticeable things. Much, much better at winning second ball. Balls forward were into feet more. And of course we had a lot more chances!

If Shaw is a serious contender – he is doing a hell of job with the audition.”

bbh 11: “Superb entertaining performance. I thought when they scored it was as good as over, totally wrong from about 20-95 minutes we were superb.

Sorensen’s display was one of the best I have seen for a long time, it would be interesting to know what distance he covered, Adelekun two goals and great display and by far the best performance in a Lincoln shirt from Smith who was excellent in the first half.

Roughan, O’Connor and Jackson all seemed to pick up knocks in the last 15 minutes hope they will all be okay for Saturday.”
