Following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home against Forest Green Rovers in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learnt from the match.

Here’s what elkimp said:

1. We haven’t got many players that are the finished article. Perhaps Rushworth, Poole and Hopper are at this level. It will take time and patience for players to develop. They need minutes on the pitch to improve and build confidence. Look at how it’s taken a year forSørensen to grow. However, we need this to happen sooner with players like Eyoma, Robson and Sanders. And may need Vernam and Mandroi to hit the ground running.

2. Kennedy is also not the finished article and is on a steep learning curve. About this league and our players. He is being astute but with caveats. Perhaps playing a bit safe. We look hard to beat, but lack risk-taking. Thus leading to 3 stalemates. The last 20 minutes on Saturday is a case in point. We should have had more of a go to win the game at home against a poor side. The changes made were safe. Kennedy may learn he has to take more risks.

3. Kennedy knows what players he wants out and the type he wants in. Adelakun gone. Too ponderous. Maguire to follow. Too old. Probably doesn’t matter what performance they put in now, they aren’t his style. Garrick comes in with pace, strength and ability. Expect to see a couple more in, which could be vital to our improvement under Kennedy’s tactics.
