“I think the club, squad and management have done an amazing job keeping us in League One.”

Views from Sincilbanks following today’s announcement that an overwhelming majority have voted for the League One season to end: “Considering the incredible topsy-turvy season we’ve had with a fixture pile-up at the beginning and playing opponents who had rest weeks thanks to Bury. Danny and Nicky leaving after half a dozen games and having to find a quality replacement I think the club, squad and management have done an amazing job keeping us in League One.

I doubt (despite the crippling losses we will have sustained as a result of the halt) there are many clubs in a better situation than us in League 1. We cashed in on most of our assets in the summer and January and chopped our wage bill to boot, no doubt, for once it turns out that a footballing disaster might not leave us at the bottom of the pile and first with the begging bowl.

I think we will have a much smaller contracted squad come the summer than many clubs in League 1 and therefore might be in a better position to take advantage of lower wages as we regroup and revamp the squad. One things for sure, Michael and his staff have a hugely busy summer ahead of him but at least he can crack on now he knows the score.

This season has been yet another up and down on the rollercoaster let’s hope next season is a little smoother and less bumpy!”

impsimps: Just pleased that’s all over and the EFL have broken with tradition and made a decision. I see the Playoff finals are still to be played behind closed doors at Wembley! Just who is going to pick up the large bill for this? With no gate money, you would think all the Playoff Clubs will make a substantial loss, with the testing costs, taking the squad off furlough and other overheads. Some of the eight might decide the odds of winning are just not financially worth competing, in spite of some tv money.

Chesterimp: “Finally! Common sense prevails.

My preference was for weighted PPG, scrapping the playoffs, and just auto-promotion and one less relegation to smooth off some of those margins, the fact the outcome agreed on ****** off Posh and Tranmere is a bonus after the recent nonsense emanating from both clubs”

Riiiiik: Maybe deserves his own thread but Thank You, Michael Appleton!

Took on a roll at a club who’d just become used to success but lost the Managers with hero status, moved into a tougher division and as we all know, worked with a reduced budget and losing some of the club’s top players.

Mission accomplished Michael. Looking forward to next season. UTI!”
