“Harry Toffolo could be in for a really bright future.”

|

Following last night’s 1-0 defeat at home against Manchester United U21s in the EFL Trophy, we asked our members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what Impala said:

1. Harry Toffolo could be in for a really bright future (if we hang onto him), given Michael Appleton’s wish to have attacking full-backs. The number of times he was more advanced than Jorge Grant was incredible. In turn, it was one of Grant’s most effective games as he could do a bit of skill and feed Harry, rather than taking everyone on.

2. I don’t know if it was just me but the club do not seem to take games in the competition as seriously as other home games. I know there were barely 1,000 people in the ground at 7:15, but there was none of the normal pre-match build-up at all which contributed to a flat atmosphere.

3. Couldn’t fathom out why Jordan Adebayo-Smith and Alex Bradley were brought back from their loan and sat on the bench but did not feature. Surely worth having a look at them for 30 minutes. Having said that, bringing on Payne late on told us Michael Appleton really wanted to get something out of the game and keep our chances of progression alive.
