The Imps have been drawn away to Bradford City in the Second Round of the League Cup, with the winners of the tie hosting Premier League side Liverpool at home in the Third Round. The Imps made it through to Round Two following a 2-1 win away at Crewe Alexandra yesterday afternoon, with goals from Tom Hopper and Lewis Montsma.

The Second Round match will be played during the week commencing 14th September. The date will be confirmed in due course.

Views from sedgleyimp: “Cracking draw. Bradford is very winnable and also gives the teams to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in 85 as I believe that the normal ceremony either wasn’t possible or was heavily scaled down this year due to COVID.

Liverpool game is mouthwatering, though they won’t have their first team out I’d imagine. Very probable pick for Sky, which would mean no iFollow coverage, but if you have a Now TV option a day pass would be available (and a penny cheaper, just doesn’t go to the club but the club would get a decent wedge from Sky to show it).”

More reaction from 100% Imps:

berksimps: “If we manage to beat Bradford, we play Liverpool at home. What a potential dream tie in a normal season. Still potential TV money and decent publicity.”

GrotierBranfootLeigh: “Absolutely inevitable that Sod’s law would operate in this way. Someone up there always has a good laugh at Lincoln’s expense when it comes to cup draws.”

kickingimp: “I’m gutted, as fans with a shared history, an away tie at Bradford could have been a very special tie. As it is it will be just another behind closed doors soulless match.”

hulloutpost: “Ahem Bradford, ahem. Work on the basis that it is inevitable we will lose that tie and then nobody gets too excited or disappointed.”
