Samuel Barrott was one of several officials that were promoted to the Football League prior to the start of the 2020/21 season.

His Football League debut came in September 2020, when he refereed the EFL Trophy match between Morecambe and Rochdale (1-2).

Samuel Barrott has been the man in the middle for two matches involving Lincoln City:

07/11/20: Lincoln City 6-2 Forest Green Rovers (FA Cup) – 4 yellow cards
05/02/21: Gillingham 0-3 Lincoln City (League One) – 6 yellow cards

TOTALS: Matches: 2 Yellow Cards: 10 Red Cards: 0

He received an average rating of 6.052 following the 3-0 win away at Gillingham last season. Some of the comments can be found below:

GreenNeedle: “He did OK, but my god did the whistle go several times a minute. Looked to me like he is one of the new breed that models themselves on Michael Oliver (who is very good) and emulates the way he talks calmly, ignores the chit-chat. I mean in body language.

Lino on the Co-op side was not so good. Well played to Grant for just getting on with it when he was definitely on side.

6.5/10”.”

WorcesterImp: “6/10. I thought he did OK considering it wasn’t an easy game to handle, Gillingham’s game plan was to be aggressive and in our faces all the time which, meant there were loads of tackles and collisions, these could have gone either way and he just about kept on top of things. I don’t think we should mark him down for the shortcomings of one of his Assistant Referees!”

hulloutpost: “I thought he was alright in a game that had quite a bit ‘going on’. Pretty much got the decisions right (unlike his lino) and kept control of a game that could have got tasty. 8.”

Samuel Barrott: 2021/22 Stats:

07/08/21: Doncaster Rovers 1-2 AFC Wimbledon (League One) – 3 yellow cards
10/08/21: Reading 0-3 Swansea City (EFL Cup) – 4 yellow cards
14/08/21: Salford City 0-0 Sutton United (League Two) – 5 yellow cards

TOTALS: Matches: 3 Yellow Cards: 12 Red Cards: 0

Samuel Barrott was the man in the middle for a total of 32 matches last season, showing 86 yellow cards and 4 red cards.

He showed 6 yellow cards on three occasions: Gillingham 0-3 Lincoln City and Bristol Rovers 0-0 AFC Wimbledon (including a booking for former Imp Alex Woodyard) in League One, and Newport County 0-1 Leyton Orient in League Two.

Barrott oversaw 17 matches during the 2019/20 season. In those matches, he showed 44 yellow cards and 2 red cards.

He showed 5 yellow cards on three occasions, all of which were National League matches: Chesterfield 1-2 Woking, Notts County 1-1 Woking (including a booking for former Imps loanee Kyle Wootton) and Sutton United 2-2 Barrow (including a booking for former Imps loanee Patrick Brough).
