Average Player Ratings in 1-0 victory

City’s first home fixture of the season saw them gain three points and a clean sheet, meaning it was another decent game in terms of ratings!

The top player was new signing Ben Tomlinson (7.38), who put in an all action performance on his home debut. Comments on Tomlinson’s performance were pretty positive across the board, with BrownImp praising the forward’s ‘fantastic attitude’ and CrazyTuba labelling his performance ‘outstanding’. Two other players scored above 7, with Danny Rowe (7.15) and Andrew Boyce (also 7.15) also impressing at either end of the field. Most posters focused on the quality of Danny Rowe’s finish and Boyce’s aerial dominance in awarding those two very decent scores.

Two players failed to make scores of 6, but only just. Paul Farman scored 5.85, having perhaps got away with one as his mistake was cancelled out by the assistant referee`s flag. In a match where he had little to do, that clearly brought his score down. Substitute Bohan Dixon showed a few flashes but could only manage a score of 5.92, with most noting that he was useful in wide areas and worked fairly hard but struggled a bit as a target man. Early days of course for the former Accrington forward, who seemed to grow into the game somewhat.

In terms of the way posters scored and CrazyTuba was the happiest for the second game running (7.15). Others posters were pretty consistent in their scores ranging from 6.23 to 6.62. The average mark was 6.43, marginally lower than the 0-0 draw at Woking (5.85). That can in some ways be put down to Farman’s lower score and the extra sub.
