A laboured first half gave way to a 3-0 victory for City courtesy of a brace from substitute Bohan Dixon and Ben Tomlinson’s 5th goal of the season.

City’s best rated player (and not for the first time this season) was neither of the scorers but Lincoln’s flying full back Sean Newton (7.81). Snats stated that Newton was ‘at the heart of everything good’ for City, while Bert Bowery argued that the left back ‘made the difference’ in the second half. Newton’s score moves him into third place overall in the player rating standings, just in front of Tom Miller.

Second place then went to the leader in the player rater, Ben Tomlinson. The former Alfreton forward doesn’t half have an engine and it has paid off so far with five goals in eleven appearances. Tomlinson started City off in the 48th minute, heading home from Sean Newton’s corner to break the deadlock on his way to a score of 7.56. Bumbleimp heralded Tomlinson as City’s ’15+ goal striker’ after the performance, while plumbob labelled the forward ‘tireless’.

The third best performance according to Vital posters was Tom Miller, who scored 7.19 coming up ahead of Andrew Boyce (7.00). In that sense the game was a microcosm of the season so far as Tomlinson, Boyce, Newton and Miller have begun to dominate the upper echelons of the player rater charts! Miller gained another slew of positive comments, with CrazyTuba calling the defender ‘brilliant’, Snats was once again pleased with City’s ‘awesome fullbacks’. This has to be tempered by one or two less happy comments however, with Bert Bowery arguing that he couldn’t get forward as much as normal and Kingearls suggesting he looked a bit ‘leggy’ at times.

Elsewhere and two-goal Dixon had to settle for 4th place (7.07) having netted his first and second goals at Sincil Bank, while Nat Brown and Alan Power weren’t too far off the pace (6.88 and 6.75 respectively). Only Mo Fofana and Nick Wright failed to score 6 or more, receiving mixed reviews (with Wright generally criticised for his first half display, less so the second 45).

In terms of posters and CrazyTuba had the highest average (7.17) and not for the first time this season either! The harshest scorer by some distance was Bert Bowery who awarded three 4s and a 3, dealing out an average mark of 5.33. No one else scored the Imps below 6.5, so that may have dragged the average down a little unfairly! The average score across the board was 6.67.
