APR V Cambridge United

City succumbed to their first loss of the 2013/14 campaign on the Saturday at the hands of well-fancied Cambridge.

Sean Newton came out as City’s best rated player after an impressive performance at left back. Impalex noted that he put in a ‘dogged’ display while dutch1585 noted he was ‘brilliant’ in attack. His score of 7.50 slightly eclipsed his 7.41 against Forest Green last week.

Andrew Boyce meanwhile scored the second highest mark (7.33), continuing an impressive start to the season which has seen the former Gainsborough centre half score above 7 every week. His partnership with Nat Brown has looked solid although Brown once again found himself a little behind in the scores at 6.00.

The only other player to muster a score of 7 or above was Ben Tomlinson (7.00) an impressive feat considering the poor scores from the midfielders behind him. Todd Jordan and Jake Sheridan were both off the pace (4.83) while Alan Power found it hard going in the hole having finally moved off the right flank (5.33). The lack of scores in attacking midfield areas probably sums up the defensive outlook City adopted at the Abbey Stadium.

Scores only ranged from 6.00 to 6.38, so City fans were pretty similar in their ratings this week!
