‘Owing to enforced exile, that was my first game since January – what a pleasure it was to see such a solid and committed performance – we’ve clearly come a very long way under Simpson.
A lot on here are rightly praising the likes of Boyce, Brown, Fofana and Tomlinson (all excellent today), but I think the fact that we have quality competition for places in the squad is having a massive effect in keeping everyone on their toes – it’s a long time since we’ve had that. If we could add a left-winger (who is naturally left-footed) and a big, strong target man in the Vadaine Oliver mould, we could be a real force this season.
For the first time in years, we look strong, composed and well-organised at the back – I never EVER thought I’d say that about a back four containing Nat Brown (!!!) but he really was immense today. I always liked Fofana even in the DH days, but he looked as though he is stepping up a class with his performance today.
When was the last time we won our first 3 matches at home? I have trawled my memory bank of the last 20+ years and don’t think we’ve managed it in all that time…’
‘About time we beat Wrexham at the Bank. Sounded pretty convincing and i’m pleased for Tomlinson who works his socks off for the cause. Not a bad attendance either. Next up Dartford.’
‘That was awesome! We were so comfortable, and almost everyone played brilliantly. Farman did what little he has to do; Boyce and Brown were exceptional; Gray and Newton were excellent; the midfielders all did very well; Fairhurst and Rowe chased down every lost cause; and what can you say about Tomlinson – my man of the match today – he was just brilliant. Sincil Bank is becoming a fortress.
Also, I loved Tomlinson’s words on Radio Lincs afterwards: we should be feared as much as any of these ‘promotion favourites’ we keep playing. Because on our day, we can beat anyone in this league.’

‘Overall a thoroughly professional performance. Wrexham were very average like FGR, so maybe its a case of we made them look so. For me Macc have been the better of all the teams to leave SB pointless this season. Mo and Tomlinson were exceptional but cant pick a fault with anyone as they all harried and hassled in hot conditions today. We look so hard to break down and are really in the faces of the opposition at every opportunity. The defence have really turned things around which for me is a real surprise, long may it continue. I wouldn’t have thought 10 points from those first 5 opening games was really possible.’
