One of the unknown quantities in the league this season, a large turnover of staff under the inexperienced management of former player Moyses could produce an interesting opening few months for the Imps. Fund-raising activities of various kinds have raised over £200,000 during the close season, improving both the club’s financial standing and the playing budget. The new defence looks very solid with a better quality of player in midfield; with the departure of Tomlinson and Burrow, the question will be whether or not the side has enough goals in it. The difference could be the fitness of long-term injury victim Liam Hearn: a fit Hearn could secure a play-off spot.
Prediction: Top half for the first time since relegation in 2011.

Michael Rankine is the stand-out signing on paper but his record last season of just 4 goals in 29 games for Gateshead may suggest that time has caught up with the much-travelled striker. Could form a useful partnership with Damian Reeves. Former City midfielder Josh O’Keefe continues his journey around non-league football with a one year deal at Moss Lane. Altrincham surprised a few teams last season including The Imps; a similar league position should be achievable this time around.
Prediction: Lower reaches, should be enough poor sides to keep them up.
