The Referee for our 2-1 win at home against Torquay United in the Vanarama National League was Joe Johnson.

The Referee for our 2-1 win at home against Torquay United in the Vanarama National League was Joe Johnson.

Let’s take a look at some of the comments:

NottyImp: “Seemed very fussy. 5. No howlers, at least.”

plumbob: “I can’t remember how many ridiculous penalty claims he rightly ignored, so fair play for that. Unfortunately, as Notty says, far too fussy.

Also, pretty sure we should have had a free-kick in the build up to their goal. Their lad basically launched himself, almost a flying tackle from 70s wrestling, nowhere near winning the ball.

Seen worse though, so a steady 5 from me too.”

Snats: “5. Torquay came to break up play and slow things down – understandably – and they had the perfect ref to help them do that. So picky. However, he didn’t make any game-changing errors.”

impsimps: “It was clear from the first minute Torquay were there to time waste at every opportunity and the referee allowed them to do it. Seemed to have preconceived ideas about Rhead who got virtually nothing verging on common assault at times, but no real howlers which changed the game dramatically. There is some rubbish in this League, seen worse, 4/10.”

MaineRoad_96: “6. Not as bad as the numpty on Tuesday, but was overly fussy and somehow didn’t book the Torquay player after a shockingly late challenge on Muldoon.”

Luke Imp: “Too slow the stamp out the time-wasting, although I’m not sure he ever did I suppose. Nor did he stop the Torquay players continually kicking the ball away at our FK’s.

No real howlers, but he should have booked their guy in the second half for a late slide tackle through Muldoon inside our half as he turned him.

5/10.”
