Ahead of tomorrow’s match at home against Wycombe Wanderers in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

You can discuss what has been said in this article HERE, as well as get involved with our pre-match threads: You can post your score predictions, discuss the starting XI, and predict the attendance!

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Play to the conditions. Should the match go ahead tomorrow the pitch still won’t be in pristine condition. It will be cold and that affects how a human body performs. Simple things like making sure that the footwear you play in is right for how the pitch is as there’s nothing quite as annoying as a player slipping over when in a good position. Also we know how the set up of our pitch and ground is. It very well could be that the sun will be still shining despite the coldness in the air. We know that in the first half of games at Sincil Bank it hovers just above the South Park end and does shine into goalkeepers eyes at the Stacey West end. Use that knowledge and put those kind of crosses in that causes goalkeepers problems in such conditions.

2. Be clinical and make the right decisions at the right time. Last Saturday at Shrewsbury we were very much on top in the first 30 minutes but failed to score. If we had during that period of dominance I feel we would have won that game. It is essential that when you are playing well and making chances you put at least one of them away. It maintains the confidence in how you are playing even if your opponents do start getting a foothold in the game. Don’t and you start to feel that it’s going to be one of those days and games are lost as a consequence.

3. Be prepared to battle. Wycombe have a something of a reputation as a long ball physical side. Honestly I don’t know if that’s still as relevant as it was as personnel change over time but they do still have Sam Vokes playing as their number 9 and his strengths have always been aerially so it shouldn’t come as a huge shock to us if that is still how they set up. So we need to be prepared to put our foot in when needed and not be out muscled by them otherwise they will start to control the game.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
