Who Are Ya? – MK Dons (Supporter Q&As & Quiz)

|

You can discuss what has been said in this article HERE, as well as get involved with our Lincoln City v Milton Keynes Dons Match Thread!

We have also published a quiz about the last time the two sides met at Sincil Bank, which can be found HERE, or at the bottom of the page!

And now for the answers provided by Steve:

How long have you supported Milton Keynes Dons?

Since they were Wimbledon FC, a Don for nearly two decades now.

Where did you finish last season?

Third in League One.

What do you think of your Manager?

Early days to be fair, I feel he needs a full pre-season behind him to be judged properly. Remember, it is not his job to manage the club, he has no control over scouting or recruitment at MK1. He is there to simply coach the players, and get the best out of the pool of players at his disposal.

What were and now are your hopes and expectations for the 2022/23 season?

Not going to lie here, I expected at least play-offs this season! Now it’s a case of damage limitation, and aiming for at least 20th in the table. Nothing else will suffice.

One(s) to watch?

Mohamed Eisa – the Sudanese hitman, deadly with the ball at his feet and on his day is totally unplayable.

Which teams do you think will finish in the top six in League One?

Obviously, I’ll go for the obvious choices here:

Sheffield Wednesday (Champions) Ipswich Town (Promoted) Plymouth Argyle, Bolton Wanderers, Barnsley & Derby County.

Which teams do you think will finish in the bottom four in League One?

Accrington Stanley, Cheltenham Town, Morecambe & Forest Green Rovers.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Well drilled defensively, you can tell by the number of draws earned this season. Some decent players at the club as well – should be higher than you are.

What do you think the score will be?

Lincoln City 1 Milton Keynes Dons 1.

Random fact about your Club?

John Motson was a supporter of the club up until his sad passing recently.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

Jack Diamond – he is an utter baller of a player.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Milton Keynes Dons Supporter?

Proudest – seeing the club lift the League 2, and JPT double, and promotion to the Championship.

Embarrassing – the Dan Micciche era. Short but not very sweet.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

Jack Tucker, is a name that divides many supporters. A marmite player whose mistakes are highlighted more than his genuinely good contributions.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

We don’t have a Supporters Trust; it was looked into many years ago though. The Supporter’s Association is entering its 20th year this year and remains one of many links between the club and its supporter base.

Which was your favourite match involving Milton Keynes Dons?

Johnstones Paint Trophy final 2008, Dons 2 Grimsby 0, the 5-1 victory over Yeovil Town that saw the club promoted to the Championship, The 4-2 win at QPR in the FA Cup, and the 4-0 win over Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.

Which was your least favourite match involving Milton Keynes Dons?

Any of our 5-0 thrashings. Rochdale away, Huddersfield Town away take your pick…

Do you have a Former Players Association at Milton Keynes Dons?

No there is no such organisation, however, the club does look out for our former players. In the past, there have been matches dedicated to “legends” who have played a vital role in our storied but short history.

What is the best thing about Milton Keynes?

A large amount of parkland, and green spaces that you could reach within walking distance of any part of the New City.

Has last season’s almost promotion contributed to your struggles this season? We had problems replacing key players when it happened to us the season before and there seem to be some parallels with you this season.

I would very much attribute last season’s near miss to our struggles this time around. The recruitment has not been at the level of the season before, goals have dried up and we’ve encountered defensive frailties not seen in years.

Liam Manning might have gone, but Mark Jackson is going to need a miracle to turn this ship around before the curtain falls on this campaign.
