How long have you supported Cambridge United?

There’s six of us that run Under The Abbey Stand, and I think our eldest member’s memory will stretch back to the mid-90s.

What were and now are your hopes and expectations for the 2023/24 season?

Our expectations were to stay up, and our hopes were to try and do it comfortably. Still got a very good chance of staying up, but the comfort is running about by the week.

What are your views on your manager?

It’s hard to say our views on the manager as Tuesday will only be Monk’s second game in charge. He started his spell at the U’s on Saturday with a point against Northampton, where we probably needed three. No way to make a judgment yet though.

What are your views on your January transfer business?

We did what needed to be done in January, bringing in Lyle Taylor and Macauley Bonne up front, and a back-up right back in James Gibbons. Many wanted a centre-mid, and they’ve been proven right with George Thomas out for the season now. So fine if not great.

Style of play and tactics – direct/passing/hybrid?

Again hard to say without having watched Monk’s team, but we’re very direct, lack quality in centre-mid to play through teams so we hope a bit of a spark from a winger can produce something. Anything good that happens usually goes through Lyle Taylor, but in general, we’re quite a slow, conservative team that struggles to score.

One(s) to watch now and in the future?

Liam Bennett, our right back, has a very very promising future ahead of him, tireless running down the wing and has a wicked cross on him too.

Random fact about your Club?

Our mascot is a moose allegedly because a fan in 1989 flew straight from holiday in Spain to a game in Grimsby, and said in the away end “Don’t stand near me I smell like a moose” – which caught on amongst our fans from there. For some reason.

Which were your favourite and least favourite matches involving Cambridge United?

Favourite probably beating Newcastle at St James’ in the Cup or getting promoted out of the conference at Wembley.

Least favourite losing twice back to back at Wembley to stay in the conference for a total of 9 years.

Which sides do you think will finish in the top six and which do you think will finish in the bottom four?

Pompey, Derby, Bolton, Posh, Barnsley, Stevenage.

Cheltenham, Vale, Fleetwood, Carlisle.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Lincoln look like they’ve become a really decent side, currently one of the best in the league on form. A really tough side to break down with a constant threat, if you get the summer right no reason why you can’t have a good go next year if you manage some consistency.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your team, who would it be and why?

Joe Taylor looks a decent talent from the highlights I’ve seen.

What is your prediction for this match?

2-0 to Lincoln.
