Of all the eight summer signings Lincoln boss Chris Sutton has made so far, Mustapha Carayol has been one of the most impressive and the former Torquay winger reckons the new-look Imps side will score plenty of goals this season.

Speaking to Radio Lincolnshire, the 21-year-old insisted: ‘We do attack well, the gaffer’s said that from day one and I know with a bit of luck we’ll get a lot of goals.

‘Against Norwich we really defended well and that bodes well for the season because if we know the lads behind us are steady then it can push us on up front to go and do the business.’

Carayol has also been pleased with City’s cohesive new midfield unit, which contains fellow new-boys Josh O’Keefe and Albert Jarrett, adding: ‘The link-up play does encourage us. I call Josh the Frank Lampard of League Two because he does get forward all the time and I’m sure he will get quite a lot of goals this season.

‘Albert does have a knack for a pass and I like to think I’ve got bit of an eye for a pass as well. Hopefully we will gel and we’ll do well at Rotherham on Saturday. We’ve just got to out play our game and hopefully get a result and at the same time enjoy it. I’m sure we’ll do fine.’

The Gambia-born ace, who has also played for MK Dons, Crawley and Kettering, admits he is enjoying life in the city, helped by the fact he he has joined boyhood friends Moses Swaibu and Jarrett at the club.

‘I grew up with Moses and Albert. Both of them grew up in Peckham, not far from where I lived so obviously we know each other very well,’ concluded Carayol.
