Imps News

“We will need to break them down, repeatedly test their keeper, and not sit back if we get ahead.”

|

Ahead of tomorrow night’s match at home against Exeter City in Sky Bet League Two, we asked our members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what berksimps said:

1. Exeter is likely to provide a much sterner test than Morecambe did on Saturday. They have had a good 2019 and this month have only lost to Bury; they will regard a point at Lincoln as a very reasonable result. We will need to break them down, repeatedly test their keeper, and not sit back if we get ahead. Taylor, their no-nonsense captain, encourages his players to shoot and pops up with the odd goal himself: one to watch.

2. Bruno Andrade has been a revelation since returning to the side and his six goals from four games will not have gone unnoticed to Exeter. If fit, expect him to be well marked with a view to restricting his attempts at goal. We will need an effective Plan B if Bruno is shackled, but it should provide more space and opportunities for others to exploit.

3. Substitutions will be vital, not only to manage the game in the last quarter if we are ahead but to also reflect there is the little matter on FGR on Saturday. The subs need to make a very positive contribution from the moment they take to the field.

Every game is important but this is now the most important.
