“We are largely very solid at the back and do have one of the best defensive records in the division.”

Following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Coventry City in League One, we asked our members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. To steal from other threads we really need to score the first goal in a game. We are largely very solid at the back and do have one of the best defensive records in the division and if we take the lead I have a good feeling that on the whole, we can protect it. If we concede first getting back into it more often than not does not happen. The stats provided on other threads back this up. we can’t afford to go behind.

2. Allowing the opposition to have the ball and dictate the tempo of a match will hurt you. First half we were not at it in any shape or form. Coventry were able to control so much of the game and ultimately that is what caused the loss. More pressure on the opposition is required if we are going to defend in deep banks.

3. Coventry are okay as a team but they need to get back to playing at their own place. I have been to matches at St Andrew’s before and it’s a decent stadium but quite soulless when half of the ground is shut off. Those supporters from Coventry who do go to home games do their best to make an atmosphere but it’ just wasn’t quite there.
