“We are in the enviable position.”

|

Ahead of tomorrow’s match away at Newport County in Sky Bet League Two, we asked our members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Don’t make wholesale changes to the first eleven. It might be tempting to try out some of the youth team and from the bench it might be an option, and allowing for any player who might be one appearance away from a deserved medal (and I can only think that might be Roberts but I will stand corrected on that) but we have to respect the opponents and the league itself. Newport can get into the playoffs still with their game in hand so we have to respect the competition as we would expect any other team to do if they were in such a position.

2. We are in the enviable position whereby we can go and enjoy the next two games in the full knowledge that if we win that will be great but if we lose well hey ho. So with that in mind the players can go out onto that occasionally bobbly pitch at Rodney Parade with the thought of let’s enjoy ourselves, play fast attacking football with plenty of crosses and shots and if it turns out that we lose playing that way I’ll still give the lads a standing ovation come full time as this season has been a joy.

3. Other than don’t pass the ball to Amond on the edge of our own box I’m struggling with a third one. I suppose lads just enjoy the day as I and all the travelling supporters will irrespective of the result. Play without pressure.
