The importance of Monday’s npower League 2 game against Cheltenham Town is there for all to see and manager Steve Tilson is urging supporters to go into the game with a positive approach and help the players by playing their part from the stands.

With Barnet, Burton Albion, Macclesfield Town and bottom-placed Stockport County all securing victories on Saturday, it means the Imps go into Monday’s game knowing that a victory will be vitally important if they’re to ease the pressure ahead of the final couple of games of the season.

‘I know it’s not been fantastic of late here at Sincil Bank but the more people who can come and support the lads the better,’ said Tilson.

‘I understand that we might need to start well to get the supporters behind us but it works both ways as if the supporters get behind the players from the first whistle then that good start can be a lot easier to achieve.

‘I also understand that fans pay their money so are quite within their rights to have a moan and a groan here and there but we need everyone to be pushing in the same direction if we’re to retain Football League status and bring success to Lincoln City Football Club.’
