When Scunthorpe came calling former Bury manager Alan Knill was off like a shot down the M62 to manage a struggling Championship side who look destined for League One football next season.

Leaving behind Bury who have been in or around the top three in League 2 all season it must have been money that talked. Bury who currently lie 2nd in the division probably have Alan Knill to thank for their position but it is his successor who has kept them up where they are now.

With Robbie Fowler as an assistant it is Richie Barker who has steered the Shakers to within a gnat’s wotsit of promotion.

One of the reasons for Bury’s surge for promotion is striker Ryan Lowe who has banged in a remarkable 25 goals this season.

In defence a familiar face will return to attempt to keep Lincoln’s Ben Hutchinson quite and that will be Ben Futcher. He is likely to be joined by Efe Sodje, another popular figure amongst Imps fans.

Another one to watch today is Manchester United loan star Nicky Ajose who will partner Richie Barker up front for Bury. The 19 year old has an exciting future ahead of him and has attracted the attentions of a number of other clubs.
