Ahead of Friday night’s match at home against Bolton Wanderers in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

You can discuss what has been said in this article HERE, as well as get involved with our pre-match threads: You can post your score predictions, discuss the starting XI, and predict the attendance!

We have also published a quiz about last season’s home match against Bolton Wanderers to see how much you can remember, which can be found below the three things!

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Back to a 4 until we have the right players for the right roles. I had the great fortune of missing the Burton game due to an annual family commitment on Boxing Day yet reading through the reports and the views post-match there is very much a similar train of thought concerning the 3 at the back with wing-backs. We simply don’t have wing-backs in the squad. This match and the upcoming game against Ipswich on the 2nd are those remaining until we can look to rectify that situation via the transfer market. I have said in the past that I do like the 3/5 wing-back formation, but not when you have Centre Backs playing as your wing-backs. So we come off the back of a bit of a Boxing Day shocker and perhaps it is time for a formation re-set. Bolton will have watched us recently and may just set up for the system we played first at their place back in October. Changing it to a 4 with an extra player either in the middle of the park or even a 2 up front might just catch them on the hop a little.

2. Play to the final whistle. Bolton have developed something of a habit of coming from behind to score late winners. They were two down at Accrington late in the second half yet won 3-2. Losing at Fleetwood with 5 minutes to go yet turned it around to win 2-1. This shows a team that once they get a goal they get something of a head of steam up and will come at you again and not settle for a hard-earned point. We need to be wary of this. Should we take the lead we need to keep switched on until the very last second.

3. One for us supporters…make it loud on Friday night. The atmosphere at the game in Southampton last week was exceptional and the players responded. Night games at ‘The Bank’ can be electric when the crowd get 100% behind the team, and players do respond to it. So everyone going for an end-of-2022 party let’s give the lads the backing from the kick-off and keep it going until the 94th/95th minute. It just could be that extra 10% to get us those cherished 3 points.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!

Turn up Friday night wanting to be there, not like on Monday as if you didn’t want to be !

    1. Play our normal game, 3 at the back, the way we know and persevere, the way we do against big sides.

2 .Push onto them from the 1st ball and close down quicker, cut their thinking time in MF.

3.Push up from the back, and stay high, make them work for it, give Carl more time.

You are a really good bunch of guys and can do this, for a run of games.

Come on Boys. See you to-night.
