Ahead of tomorrow night’s match at home against Wigan Athletic in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Patience. You look at the League table at Wigan are currently 24th. They are yet to appoint a manager and have had to cobble together a team after the off-field shenanigans that caused their relegation last season. So many will think that they are there for the taking. You actually look at their results though and the problem is very clear. They struggle to score goals. Their goals against column though is far from the worst in the division. Plymouth have conceded more than they have to date. So to expect a goal-fest on Tuesday is probably too much. The players will need to understand this. On Saturday when chasing the game some openings were wasted when a shot from distance was attempted rather than an extra pass which just might have got us through. An early goal on Tuesday would be most welcome but if it doesn’t come, don’t forget to do the good things. That is what will open them up.

2. Be Clinical. Performance-wise Saturday was really good. Lots of quick interchanging of passes. It all fell down though at the point where it needs to be at its most ruthless and that is in front of goal. We need to make our chances pay.

3. Corners. Yet again they have to be mentioned. Plymouth scored early from a decent corner to the near post. We had at least nine corners and other dead ball situations and none caused them any serious problems. They really need to get better irrespective of who is taking them.
