Three Things The Imps Need To Do To Beat AFC Wimbledon

|

Ahead of tomorrow’s match away at AFC Wimbledon in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what tinnionsrightfoot said:

1. We actually need to play. COVID is bad in London, and our division seems to have had a lot more games called off than those above and below. Appleton has got himself a sensible group of players who behave professionally and we’ve been fine so far, but it would be so easy for it to get into the camp and then we’d be scuppered. We’re on a good run, and we need to try and keep the momentum going. Our injury worries seem to be resolving themselves, so let’s play as many as possible before other sides reinforce in the transfer window. We’ve looked really good against lower-table teams in the last two games, and this is another opportunity.

2. Scoring early has been the key in the last two games. If we can go at them with pace from the outset and get an early goal it will force them to come onto us, allowing our lightning counter-attacks.

3. Concentrate in defence. We have lots of clean sheets, but only 2 in the last 6. As Michael Appleton said, 4-0 up is the best time to concede, but if we were only 1 up it would be a whole different kettle of fish, and it’s not as good as not conceding at all. PAY ATTENTION AT THE BACK THERE.
