The Imps will take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the First Round of The Emirates FA Cup. This fixture will be played between Friday 8th November and Monday 11th November. The date and time will be announced in due course, with ticket and travel information following soon after.

The winners of this First Round tie will receive £36,000 from The FA’s prize fund.

My Views: If I’m honest, I was hoping for Boston United or any other non-league side at home, certainly not the highest-ranked side in the competition. Ipswich Town away will be incredibly tough. Will we get 5,000 tickets again? If we do, will we sell them? It would be great if we did, but I can’t see that happening.

You can discuss this draw on 100% Imps!

Reaction on the forum:

Davidimp: “Proper meh draw and unless we get through I won’t see us at home unless we get home second draw until December 29th!”

Scotimp: “Good chance of us being on? Ipswich playing in the first round for the first time in 60+ years, the giant-killing in 2017, all League One, the League One leaders etc. And is that the highest-ranked game?

That also means no home game until 14 December after this Saturday, assuming no replay.

I hope the gate receipts from Ipswich are sufficient to maintain cash flow during that spell.”

sedgleyimp: “Let’s hope that Ipswich decide to concentrate on the league and put out their youth team!!”
