According to numerous references in the Irish press former Ireland Manager and Liverpool and Villa legend, Steve Staunton is serious about the Lincoln City job. Irelands premier soccer websites and the Irish times all seem to think that ‘Stan` is the man for the Imps. Staunton`s PR team are certainly co coordinating a campaign and the inference is that he can open up a lot of contacts in Ireland both North and South of the border. They are also saying he would love a crack at taking a side through the divisions. It is the clearest indication yet that he feels I’m yer man!

The smart money is still on a Clark/Spall management team, with youth Guru Tom inspiring a stylish victory over Rotherham`s reserves yesterday. The football played was the same pretty stuff we are coming to expect in the first team with trialist Knano Smith pulling the strings. Shane Clark also had a very impressive performance in the defensive midfield holding role, capped by a goal assisted by Smith. Smith made both goals as a very young side overcame half the Rotherham first team.
