After a glittering career as a fullback with Leeds United, John Pemberton has spent the last decade at Nottingham Forest. He worked his way up having held every coaching position, including, briefly, the job of caretaker manager following the sacking of Colin Calderwood last year. Primarily he has worked with the youth and reserve teams bringing through Joe Heath, Wes Morgan and Gareth McCleary.

He will also bring some interesting contacts from the FA with him having coached the England U19`s and latterly the U17`s this summer in their successful Nordic Cup triumph. England defeated a Scotland side including the Imps Graham Hutchinson in the final 3-2. He likes his sides to play passing attacking football and has some interesting and forward thinking ideas.

Pemberton appears to have pushed a lot of the buttons and ticks the young and up and coming box. He joins Brabin and Clark as contenders for the job and is expected to be asked back to a second interview at some stage. he has only managed two games but has a 100% record, defeating Norwich 3-2 and the famous 3-0 FA Cup third round shock at Man C.
