“Some of the football in the first half was as good as we have seen at home all season.”

|

Following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home against Macclesfield Town in Sky Bet League Two, we asked our members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what Chimpimp said:

1. Sol Campbell is making a better fist of management than many thought he would. He was animated and committed to his team from the touch line and was a total contrast to the other high profile manager to visit Sincil Bank in recent weeks, namely the disinterested Paul Scholes. He also spoke well after the match and with that attitude, deserves the luck he will need if Macclesfield are to escape the drop.

2. Despite the score, Lincoln show little sign of wilting now the business end of the season has arrived. Some of the football in the first half was as good as we have seen at home all season. In contrast Bury, the team touted as the best “footballing” side in the league (whatever that means) are really struggling. They are now more worried about avoiding the playoffs than clinching the title.

3. We witnessed an optical illusion on Saturday. Some swear they witnessed Bruno Andrade fouled for a stonewall penalty with their own eyes, yet with every view of the video footage, the only plausible answer is he was tackled by the invisible man. Both can’t be right. But I’m not sure which is wrong.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
