“We should have had that game done and dusted before half time.”

Views from Joseph Lovett following Saturdays 1-1 draw at home against Macclesfield Town in Sky Bet League Two: “Another case of don’t count your chickens!

We should have had that game done and dusted before half time, but for some great keeping and some suspect finishing. Bruno had a cracking chance (was he pushed?) and Akinde two great chances (including what looked to be a tap in). Second half we were very lackluster and struggled to generate any momentum. Thank God for that top save by Gilks! It never felt like we were going to score and I think everyone else felt the same judging by the flat atmosphere.

I think too many players had off days. I think Akinde, O’Hara, Anderson and to and extent Bruno will be a bit disappointed today. Akinde has had a brilliant season, but he really struggled today. He lost his battle, missed his chances and struggled with his first touch. He forced the keeper to make a worldie save, but the keeper shouldn’t have had a chance to save it.

We struggled in midfield as well today and didn’t win anywhere near as many second balls as you would expect. We had no one in the middle to link midfield and attack effectively. Having said that Eardley and Toffolo were brilliant. They covered a huge amount of ground and looked our most dangerous players. That free kick by Eardley was a thing of beauty, and we needed something special to beat O’Hara in goal today! For all the balls going into the box, we rarely seemed to have a player really attacking the ball.

No need to panic yet, we’re in a very good position, despite most results going against us today. We do have by the far the hardest run in though, so we could need that gap! A draw next week will do us nicely. We do seem to play better against the better side.”

More views from the Match Thread:

hulloutpost: “Well played Macclesfield. We didn’t lose and any point gained at this stage of the season is welcome. Keep focused, avoid losing to Trannies and MKD to see the season out. Really up for next week as I have no doubt will the players.”

JT_LCFC: “Weren’t quite at it today for some reason, and credit to Macclesfield they defended very well and nullified any threat we had in the final third.

Again we haven’t got beat and gained on one of our rivals. Two wins will do it if the others don’t run out of games. If it was all plain sailing it wouldn’t be Lincoln City.

The crowd were flatter than usual but the numbers through the gate phenomenal. Great potential at this football club.”

clanford: “Not had a chance to read the thread yet, but it’s another point in the bag and with Bury losing, not all bad. Thought the 1st half was one of the best displays I’ve seen so far. Great hit from Eardley. Half time came too soon. Second half was a bit flat with only MaCartans effort coming close. 80 points and MK next week. Can’t wait.”
