Reading: They are one of those teams that can hurt ‘you’, but do have some weaknesses which can be exploited. They are a side that have been picking up some good results recently. Whilst it would be nice to get his first home win, MS observed that the Imps will need to be better in the final third than they have been this past week, if that is to be achieved.

Aside from the known long-term injuries, MS clarified the position so far as Jaden Brown is concerned. The player is not injured and he, along with some other players seeking to nail down a place in the squad need ongoing minutes to get them into that position. With that in mind, Jaden completed a full 90 minutes with the U21’s during the week.

Loan Player Reviews: It would be good to get an early ‘steer’ from the parent clubs pertaining to the current crop of players in on loan at Lincoln.

It’s one of those situations where you want everybody to be truthful…then we can decide what we do in the window”.

MS knows the u21 loans market really well, with it being an area he has worked in but MS dismissed the notion he was better placed to recruit from Leeds United due to his connections there; he saw it as being more of an open field than simply that. MS is aware that there are one or two areas that need strengthening but by the same token the squad is well served in other positions. As such it is more about building something around what is already in situ.. There is a plan in place and MS knows what needs to be done but that isn’t always as easy as some people may think. Typically at (higher level) clubs there are serious conversations to be had between the head coach, technical director, loans manager but very importantly the player himself when an U21 loan is being considered.

“There’s a few moving parts but I’m sure it will be exciting, as all these windows are”

When asked to comment on the position regarding Freddie Draper, MS was well aware how impressive FD’s performances have been, with the player seemingly growing and developing every week. The player’s games are actively being watched by the staff. MS has to consider whether playing at the higher L1 level will be a stretch for him. There is an important dual consideration of not only what is better for Freddie’s development but what is best for the club at this time.

“We need to get that one right whether we bring him back into the building or whether leave him out there doing well”
