It was announced earlier today that Charley Kendall has joined National League side Bromley on loan for the remainder of the season, and Tom Hopper has joined League Two Colchester United for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract until the Summer of 2025 for The U’s.

Bromley are currently 6th in the National League and Kendall has the opportunity to continue his development and play in a side competing for a play-off spot.

Hopper scored 21 goals in his 100 appearances for The Imps, and everyone at Vital Lincoln City would like to wish Tom Hopper all the best for the future.

Reaction to Charley Kendall loan (discussion link):

Rasenimp: “Thought he might have got 15 mins on Sat! Sadly I don’t think Kendall is part of the first team’s plans at the moment. Hopefully, he can do well at a National League team chasing the play-offs. Would at least show he can score one division up.”

Scotimp: “Should have gone to the National League in August, the Sutton experience has probably hindered his development as much as helped it.”

clanfordimp: “I do still hope he is in our plans. Goalscorers are a rare breed and this lad is one but he really does need to kick on, put the nightmare of Sutton behind him and hopefully get game time and start scoring goals and building his confidence again.”

Reaction to Tom Hopper’s departure (discussion link):

Impish: “Tom was one I wanted to be the first name on the team sheet. Sadly we haven’t seen that level of performance and consistency in quite a while. Hope this paves way for some incomings and I wish Tom a very happy spell at his new club.”

Luke Imp: “No surprise, it felt like things were coming to the end of the road anyway.

Decent for 5-8 goals a season, a good defender at the near post on corners, never gave less than 100% and won his fair share of free kicks but I don’t think he’s reached the heights of 2020/21 (not many have). I also thought his form has generally dropped off as well.

House is the better option for us in that position now, and given he was on a pre-Covid contract, an obvious one to move one if the opportunity arose (and a replacement sorted!).”

clanfordimp: “Excellent in our push for the Championship but injuries have hampered him greatly recently.

Probably the right time and a good move for both parties.

I wish him all the best in his new challenge.”

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
