“Quite simply we need to go at them.”

|

Ahead of tonight’s match against Yeovil Town in Sky Bet League Two, we asked our members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what Jamesimp said:

1. Quite simply we need to go at them, we’ve tried putting midfielders further forward but in effect end up erring on the side of caution and playing too deep, we need two up front, preferably both bonafide forwards. If they sit back like they almost certainly will do we can get in and amongst them.

2. We need an early breakthrough, get in behind them put them on the back foot, then an early goal will make them come out and leave more spaces behind. Get the tempo going, keep the ball moving forward from minute one, we don’t hurt anybody playing it along the back four before passing back for the goalkeeper to punt long to nobody.

3. We need a referee who hasn’t got a point to prove, just simply turn up without any prejudice, make the decisions and let the players feet do the talking, in turn, we all need to just get on with it and win the game. Forget the referee, you can’t control them.

And here’s what syimp said:

1. Don’t boo the referee. Psychologically, all we are doing is solidifying their intent not to be influenced in their decision-making. Sadly, it ain’t going to happen.

2. Play the 11 who started at the New Lawn. Get the ball down the flanks, put it in good areas and the front two will do the rest. Sit someone on the edge of the box for the long-range strike, when the ball is cleared at set pieces.

3. We must not go 1-0 up and drop back to the edge of our box. This is a game when we need to go for the jugular. GD might be important when it comes to silverware.
