Q&A With NottyImp – The Answers!

|

Thank you to NottyImp for answering a few of the questions the Vital Lincoln City members asked him.

Morning Notty, who, if any of the current squad would make it into Colin Murphy’s team of the early 80’s? In your opinion.

Eardley, Gilks, Andrade and Shackell.

When did you start supporting the Imps and what was it that caught your enhthusiasm?

Who introduced you to watch Lincoln and when. What was your first ever Lincoln City match.

My first game was versus Scunthorpe at home in 1974. Well, it was according to knotty Snr., I can’t remember it! I then went for pretty much of the whole of the amazing 75/76 season and who wouldn’t be hooked after that?

Family wise, Knotty Snr. First went with his Dad in about 1942, so we can trace support back, probably, to the late 1920s.

Taylor, Murphy, Alexander or Cowley and why?

All of them, please! Successful managers at different times under radically different circumstances.

Who is your favourite (ever) to wear the Lincoln shirt in;

a. Goal: Alan Marriott. I often criticised him but an excellent ‘keeper and a real stalwart.
b. Defence: Trevor Peake. Just the best player in my lifetime.
c. Midfield: Peter Gain. Oozed quality.
d. Forward/Striker: Percy Freeman. Hard as nails!

Who is the worst player you’ve ever seen play for us?

Paul Robson. Good Lord…

What is the worst game you’ve ever seen involving the Imps?

Losing 4-1 against North ******* Ferriby.

Who do you find is the most irritating poster on these boards (!!)?

Me! Seriously, I frequently completely annoy myself with my stupid posts, but I just can’t help it. I should probably just shut up.

Strangest place you have met a footballer, famous or not…..

I actually can’t answer this. I almost never meet footballers – famous or not – and certainly not in strange places.

Which was the best central defence partnership?

A. Ellis and Cooper
B. Peake and Thommo
C. McCauley and Morgan ( I know it was usually a 3)
D. Raggett and Waterfall
E. Bozzie and Shackell

Peake and Shackell. Am I allowed that?
