Following tonight’s 1-0 win away at Portsmouth in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what tinnionsrightfoot said:

1. At full strength we can compete with the top teams. We went toe-to-toe with an 11-man Pompey for 30 minutes and worried them. They had two yellows before the sending off.

2. I write this every time I do one of these, but: it’s the second half thing again. The players trust the method and keep doing the same things all match, and we score so many late goals because it really wears the oppo down and they’re knackered. I’m sure there was a graphic flashed up at some point saying we’d scored more goals in the last 15 minutes than any other period, and that’s why. Recently we’ve done it at Wimbledon, against Northampton and now today. Before that, Swindon and Wigan and Blackpool. And that’s just the ones I can remember without looking it up.

3. McGrandles is massive for us. He’s the missing link in midfield, and he gets forward a lot – Just sits in front of Bridcutt and offers him an out. Today he had two headers cleared/saved off the line and took a tactical card for the team as well, and cleared their only shot on target off the line. My MoM.
