I think it’s safe to say Tom Pett was signed in January from Stevenage with a view to him playing a key role this season and so far that is proving to be the case.

Speaking to Lincolnshire Live in February, Danny Cowley said: “He’s proved himself as a top, top player in League Two and, for me, he has the potential to be a top player in the division above.”

It’s another case of when I started the Man of The Match poll after our 2-1 win at home against Bury, I knew there was only going to be one winner. Tom Pett is class and we (Vital Lincoln City) are so lucky to be sponsoring him for the second season running!

Here’s how the poll finished:

Smith: 1 vote – 1.8%
Shackell: 1 vote – 1.8%
Pett: 52 votes – 94.5%
Frecklington: 1 vote – 1.8%

Comments:

bbh 11: “Best performance for me was by Pett. He was hung out to dry by his teammates in midfield in the first half. As the game progressed he got better and better especially after the substitutions. Best performance I have seen him in a Lincoln shirt.

Agree with the other posts Smith did well on his Lincoln league debut, I was really impressed with his distributional as well.”

PerthImp: “No competition – Pett by a country mile. Drove the team on whether they were playing good or bad. Great close control – took on their players two or three sometimes and came away with the ball almost every time.”

Stevie_imp: “Pett without a shadow of a doubt. Totally bossed the midfield and helped make up for lacklustre performances around him.”

collingham imps: “Pett – exceptional – what a transformation from the few games he played last season – even Freck remarked about how well he had performed since the close season and that a few players eyebrows were raised when he wasn’t selected for earlier games.”

Previous Winners:
