Ahead of tomorrow’s match away at Peterborough United in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Adapt to the pitch. There have been a few grumblings this season over our pitch and some have attributed our slightly poor return from home games. It has shown some signs of bobbling, which isn’t consistent with how we prefer to play our football. The small amount of footage I have seen over the playing surface at London Road makes ours look like the putting green at the 18th hole at St Andrew’s. It is far from the best. It has struggled throughout the winter and looking at the brief highlights of their Doncaster game, it is still a poor surface. So it isn’t going to be conducive to a free-flowing passing on the floor kind of game which might mean we have to adapt our style of play. When we played at Northampton just before Christmas, the pitch there was in a poor state yet we managed to stretch our game there and came away with a 4-0 win. That adaptation to the conditions will be needed.

2. Be clinical. The last three away games have all yielded 1-0 wins. We have an exceptional away record this season and certainly have nothing to fear in going to Peterborough. We are very much on par with them. What was evident in those last few games was that we were one lucky deflection away from not winning the games. A 1-0 lead is flimsy. On Tuesday we created many chances in the first thirty minutes to put the game to bed, yet most of us were still concerned about getting the three points when the 90-minute clock came around. The team needs to appreciate that it’s not good for us old buggers watching. Make every chance count.

3. Keep a close eye on Jonson Clarke-Harris. I’m not one for really identifying opposition players for attention, but you have to respect his goalscoring record this season. His 29 goals has been a huge reason why Peterborough are second in this league. He is a very good striker at our level and we cannot afford to switch off around our box if he is lurking.
