Peterborough United (a): Three Things The Imps Need To Do To Win Today

Ahead of today’s match away at Peterborough United in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what berksimps said (which you can discuss HERE):

1. City will have to continue to build as a cohesive unit if they are to beat a high-flying Peterborough. At Oxford, the sum of the team ethic was greater than the work of the individuals and defensively there was commitment and belief that a lead can be protected. If we get chances we can score goals, we won’t get too many but they need to be put away.

2. Stopping crosses from Joe Ward and driving midfield runs from Jack Taylor will be paramount. Ward is quick and likes an early delivery when possible and Taylor will not be scared to try and take on two or three City players when getting forward. If their effect can be nullified we have a decent chance. Up front, Clarke-Harris is their biggest threat and he and Jack Marriott will need very close marking.

3. If Sorensen is taking on a creative role he needs to be more authoritative particularly as the game goes beyond the hour mark. The work rate will be there but passing also will need to be precise as we try and get forward as a unit and create chances. A little more belief from Garrick and the odd goal attempt from midfield should take pressure off Hopper and Scully. Someone must always keep close to Hopps, and Sculls just needs half a chance. We defended incredibly well second half on Tuesday, it’s likely we will have to get forward far more to get a result at Peterborough. Of course, early goal or two for City would be a massive help.
