Oxford United 1-2 Lincoln City: Views, Highlights & Stats

|

Views from PerthImp following Tuesday night’s 2-1 win away at Oxford United in League One: “I’m a nervous wreck watching that second half. All credit to Oxford – they really went for it second half, but for all their pressure the Imps stood firm and fought superbly for every ball. They were tired and lost a bit of discipline and structure but MK has them all playing for each other and fighting for the win. Sanders fell off a bit second half, as did one or two others, but the effort they put in first half must have taken a bit out of them. All credit though, they just fought for everything and never gave up, with a bit of professionalism at the end to ensure the points. That result will give them a fair bit of belief. I’d give Jamie Robson MoM for 98 minutes of pure physical effort, guts, determination, fight and some skill”

More views from our Match Thread:

clanfordimp: “Very good first half.

Oxford had to come out second half and had to throw the kitchen sink at us.

We were under the cosh at times in the second half but we put bodies on the line and defended brilliantly.

We looked determined and organised and that was a thoroughly professional performance and a brilliant 3 points.”

Sincilbanks: “Excellent performance, really dug that one out. The team and manager passed a big test tonight and that will give them a lot of confidence and I finally saw us win at the Kassam! Fantastic evening.”

PortMacImp: “A fully committed team effort and deserving of moving into the top half of the league table. In the first half, we were well organised and played with purpose and composure which was a contrast to how we had to deal with the second half. Oxford were always going to pour forward and launch plenty of high balls into the box and our team stood up to everything thrown at them. Poole and O’Connor were immense, as was Sanders who was everywhere. Great entertainment from a team getting better each game.”

plumbob: “What a shift that was. Stood strong to a man and not a step back from anyone.

MK can stay a while if he is going to get that kind of performance out of our boys. Couldn’t be more impressed with that.”
