The news that Michael Appleton has signed a new contract must be fantastic news for every Imps fan. Coming into a club mid-season is never easy, couple that with a change to the operating model one can understand that many feared choppy waters ahead. However, behind the scenes the Michael Appleton football revolution quietly took hold. Gone were the more established players some of which were fans favourites, in came younger players either permanent signings or loanees invariably plucked from the Championship or Premier U23’s. Just how this revolution is working can be judged by our current league position. It has been a fantasy season so far, there are many facets of how this has been achieved but most importantly it is because of Michael Appleton. His football philosophy of how the game should be played is quite evident, his contacts, coaching ability, management skills and much more have all played a part in our success so far. The news of this contract extension is a delight, it sets out his commitment to the club that can only benefit existing players and potential new signings. The football on display has been nothing short of exceptional something I have not witnessed from a Lincoln City side for quite some time. My only hope is that sooner rather than later we have a full LNER where Michael Appleton can take the plaudits personally, something he richly deserves.
